Benefits of Yoga for Kids

Yoga is beneficial to kids in many ways, mainly from the physical and psychological aspects.

  1. Enhance physical flexibility:Different yoga postures can challenge different muscle groups to help children understand their body and how it works effectively.
  2. Increase lung capacity: Unlike adults, children’s breathing is relatively weak. Yoga is a sport that pays great attention to breathing. Yoga not only helps to increase the vital capacity of children, but also helps to improve asthma and airway sensitivity.
  3. Promote intellectual development: When practicing yoga, a brain-derived neurotrophic factor is produced in the children's brain, which can promote brain development.
  4. Improve concentration:In the process of practicing yoga, children are asked to speak less and concentrate on doing movements. Therefore, yoga can help children concentrate.
  5. Boost self-esteem and confidence:Yoga teaches children to persevere, wait patiently, and work toward their goals. When children master a posture, they will feel very fulfilled.
  6. Cultivate kindness: Learning yoga from an early age can help the kids grow into gentle and kind-hearted adults in the future, because these children will be more peaceful in their hearts, and psychological balance will be easily achieved.

The main purpose of adult yoga is to train the coordination and flexibility of the body, while the flexibility of the kids’ body is relatively strong. Therefore, the goal of their yoga practice is not to shape the body, but to cultivate their mind.

In this process, they will gradually learn to concentrate, learn to control their emotions, use their imagination, and improve self-confidence.
